Hello,

The year is 2022, April. A grove of old growth guides my path to the coast—a standardly stunning day in the Pacific Northwest. Normal, except for the new board under my arm. A board made from toxic materials. Truly ironic, the eagerness I feel to introduce this piece of foam and fiberglass to the ocean.

Fast forward a few hours. My drive home feels different. That surfed-out bliss is out of reach. I’m too consumed, wishing away the dozens of pressure dings that vandalized and dethroned my brand-new board. I’ll be lucky if it lasts a year before snapping.

Then the question percolated—Why do we have such a love affair with foam and fiberglass? Is better possible?

That question turned into an obsession with surfboard construction—exploring new methods to eliminate the toxic styrene foams and carcinogenic resins that dominate the surf world.

FUNNER Surf Craft is the manifestation of that vision. It’s about showing what’s possible when you rethink the process.

Now fast forward with me one more time. The year is 2025. That same grove of old growth still guides my path to the coast—another standardly stunning day in the Pacific Northwest. Normal, except for the new board under my arm. A board made from recycled and renewable materials. Truly incredible, the eagerness I feel to introduce this surf craft to the ocean.

And on the drive home, a newfound level of surfed-out bliss is all-encompassing—a gift from the ocean, a thank you for dancing with its waves on conscious surf craft.

Making these boards is both an honor and a responsibility—one I pour my whole heart into. I invite you to join us, and I promise to craft your board with the love and attention to detail that our ocean deserves.

Cheers to it,
Eddie Rosenberg
